Calm Your Nervous System

How is your nervous system supporting you?

When our nervous system is calm and balanced we make better choices, are happier, and overall healthier.

Unfortunately, many of us walk around with a nervous system in fight, flight, or freeze mode. Unless we learn ways to take it down a notch, we will be governed by our reactionary nervous system.

Here's an example of what a reactionary nervous system looks like.
Let's say your boss/co-worker/friend/child/lover/person gives you harsh feedback about how you are behaving.

Fight Mode: React with anger, defensiveness...we may "attack" and say harsh things we do not mean and later regret. Very high emotion and reactivity.

Flight Mode: We withdraw and worry, panic, lose sleep.

Freeze Mode: We are stuck. We shut down. Low energy, feelings of why bother, apathy.

What can do we? Breathe.
