Know Thyself Deeply
One of the best pieces of wisdom I have ever received (from Eckhart Tolle!) is to know thyself.
I have always been curious about human nature, and in particular my "tendencies ".
When I started my meditation practice 26 years ago, my intention was to learn about myself. I wanted to learn how to quiet the mental noise - both my own, as well as the world around me. I wanted to live a healthy, balanced life that I didn't need a vacation from, so to speak.
26 years later, I can say the practice of meditation, and learning about myself, has only grown stronger. To me, meditation is not a chore. It's a privilege and a necessity.
When I feel "stressed" is when I need meditation the most. And paradoxically, it is often in those stressful moments that I want to make excuses like, "I don't have the time or the desire".
I've learned to overcome my mind and sit in meditation, regardless of what is going on.
100% of the time, I think better, feel better, and act better.
Mostly I feel calmer and clearer after meditation.
Why is this important?
When we are calm, life flows better.
Why? Energy alignment.
A tense body and stressed mind emits that energy. In doing so, we attract more of that energy.
When we are calm, we attract calm.
We are better able to access intuition, make aligned choices, and receive.
